Our Lady of Mount Carmel School provides a quality environment for the whole community to use and enjoy. The original buildings here at OLMC are now proudly more than fifty years old while the library and Administration buildings were built in 1999. In 2015 the school implemented a self-funded capital works program. The strategy behind these works included the need to offer a contemporary, modern and inviting Early Learning Environment, a new Administration Block to enhance school security and functionality and finally to create a new, purposeful and vibrant Staff Room with modern staff facilities.
Our current community enjoys a well-resourced, safe and progressive learning environment with modern facilities and dedicated and committed staff who work and walk alongside our students and their families in the true spirit of Catholic education.
Playgrounds
The Kindy and Pre-primary play area is shared by both classes at different times throughout the day and on a Thursday by our 3 Year Old learners. This is a multi-tiered area with a covered sandpit and grassed play area. The bottom oval has a large, well-maintained sandpit area with modern climbing equipment and an overhead shade cover for protection from the elements. The remainder of the play area consists of a large oval area with a modern tennis court that also has the appropriate markings for use as a basketball court. Both the top oval and bottom oval areas have a generous lawn area for children to run and play team sports on. Well-maintained garden beds border each of these areas.
Undercover Area
All Year 1-6 classrooms open onto a large undercover area which is used as an extra covered space for students to work in.
Classroom Learning Environments
In a digital age, the school provides future focused and creative learning environment to meet the contemporary needs of students. Science Lab
Our science lab is used by our 2 specialist teachers. It is a place where all students in PP-6 have the opportunity to enhance their curiosity, investigation and knowledge of the world around them by participating in an hour and half of hands on Science each week.
.Multipurpose Hall and Classrooms
Thanks to the BER, OLMC has a large modern hall, three multipurpose classroom spaces and a servery. These areas are used for a wide variety of purposes including instrumental music lessons, assemblies, parent and parish meetings and workshops, PE lessons in the winter and much more.
Parish Church
We are most fortunate here at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School to have our Parish Church right on site. This means that children, staff and parents have ready access to a variety of liturgies and enables close collaboration between school and parish.
